Ardsley History

Ardsley is a small village with a population just over 4000.  It was originally named Ashford before incorporating in 1883.  It is located along the Saw Mill River in Westchester County, New York.  Several major transportation routes have stimulated it’s growth over the past century and a quarter—the (now extinct) Putnam Rail Road Line, the Saw Mill River Parkway, the New York State Thurway.  Ardsley is suburban with some manufacturing and corporate offices.  It’s topography is hilly, and the village lies—east/west—between the villages of Scarsdale and Dobbs Ferry.
